Guiding Tiny Cubs
Through a Forest to Sleepy Dreams

Welcome to Blissful Bear Sleep!

I’m here to help your little cub find peaceful, restful sleep. Every child – and parent – deserves the comfort of a good night’s sleep.

If you're anything like me, and I'm guessing you are because you wouldn't be reading this right now if you weren't, you're exhausted of Google at 3 am. You're overwhelmed by all the noise on the internet telling you the XYZ approach is the best solution. You've returned to work, and everything has changed with your child's sleep. You feel you can't keep going on like this.

So, why am I any different?

I take a holistic, whole-child approach and look at every aspect of your child’s day because quality sleep starts long before bedtime.

With warmth, patience, and care, I create sleep plans that are as unique as your child, so your whole family can rest well withoug compromising your values.

About

Certified Baby and Toddler Sleep Consultant

Labor, Birth, and Postpartum Doula

Hi, I’m Larissa, and I’m so glad you’re here!

If you're anything like me, and I'm guessing you are because you wouldn't be here if you weren't, you're an exhausted parent.

I returned to work when my daughter was 5 months old. We went from decent sleep and surviving to being in full zombie mode. Between the wake-ups every 2 hours and the up-at-2am-to-party-until-4am, I felt like I was in a fog.

The advice I received left me sobbing outside my daughter's door, doing everything I could to drown out her screams.

That's why I decided to become a Certified Baby and Toddler Sleep Consultant myself.

Because there is another way.

It's natural to have questions. Let's answer some of the most common ones. If you still need clarification, book a FREE 30-minute Starter Sleep Session call.

  • What is Sleep Training?
When you hear the term "sleep training", you probably think of a child locked in a room screaming until morning. I'm here to tell you that's not the case. Yes, Cry-It-Out is one sleep training method, but it is far from the only one. I have many tools in my belt to use. Cry-It-Out is not one of them. During our time together, I will learn a lot about your little one. From their individual personality, to their current routine and schedules, and their current preferred sleeping space, I focus on all aspects of your child's day and night. I take a holistic, whole-child approach to create a sleep plan and proposed sleep training method that works for your family and is aligned with your family values. If something doesn't resonate with you, we can talk about it and find a solution that feels good to you.
  • Will My Child Cry?
This is tough. The answer is - most likely. But, please keep reading! Imagine you put your child in the car seat to drive to the grocery store for blueberries. Let's say you get about five minutes from your home, and your child starts to scream and cry. What do you do? You are far enough away that turning around might take just as long as it would to get to the store. If you are like most parents I talk to, you will keep driving. You'll talk to your little one. You'll give them reassurance. But, you keep driving despite the fact that they are having some big emotions in the back seat. They are safe. That's the key. Sleep training is kind of like that. We will make sure all of your child's needs are met and they are safe. Our role as parents is not to save our child from every uncomfortable moment or shield them from negative emotions. Those are part of life. We are guiding them through those tough times with love and compassion to build their confidence. So, while there may be tears, it is because of a change, a frustration, or an interruption.
  • How Do I Know if Sleep Training Is Right for My Family?
That is a great question! Unfortunately, I can't answer it. Only you can. But, let me give some guidance to help start a conversation around whether now is the right time. Here are some questions Elizabeth Pantley proposes in her book The No-Cry Sleep Solution. They are a great starting point and what I reference with my clients: Am I content with the way things are, or am I becoming resentful, angry, or frustrated? Is my baby's nighttime routine negatively affecting my marriage, job, or relationships with my partner, friends, or my other children? Is my baby happy, healthy, and seemingly well-rested enough to get through the day? Am I happy, healthy, and well-rested? What naptime and bedtime situation would I consider "acceptable"? What naptime and bedtime situation would I consider "pure bliss"? Think about your current situation. If you were to continue in this same way for the next 6 months, would you be happy and thriving? Or do you feel anxiety looking to the future because you need a change in your life? If you need someone to talk through this with, I'm here. Please reach out and we can discuss your situation.
  • What Does It Look Like to Work Together
This is such an important question! The first step is a FREE 30-minute Sleep Starter Session. During this time, I will learn about your family and your child's sleep challenges. After discussing which package is best for your family, we will schedule the 45 or 90-minute video call. During that time, we will go through the intake form together to create a customized sleep plan for your child using my signature framework: Connection, Rhythms & Routines, Sleep Environment, Night Responses, and Daytime Sleep. By the end of the video call, you should feel confident implementing the plan and have a troubleshooting strategy. What happens next depends on which package you purchase. Regardless, you will receive a follow up email with either notes and strategies or a full sleep plan. Creating new habits takes time and patience. I'm here to support you through the process and ensure you have the tools to succeed.
